All Aboard Erie Hosted a Candidates’ Forum for 2017 Mayoral and County Executive
All Aboard Erie, with Bike Erie, hosted a Candidates’ Forum, including all four mayoral and county executive candidates, on Tuesday October 3rd, at 6:30, in the Maple/Oak Classroom at Asbury Woods Nature Center, 4105 Asbury Road. This was held with All Aboard Erie’s annual Membership Meeting.
CATV recorded the event, and scheduled several viewing times, which are listed here.
This unique Forum focused on transportation issues, especially mass transit, and the economic and social benefits of Transit-Oriented Design. Issues were discussed that would probably not be discussed at any other event. Transportation is something we use all day, every day, whether it’s walking to the store, riding your bike to the library, taking the bus to work, driving your car, or taking a business trip on Amtrak. This forum let you know how the candidates feel about all aspects of transportation, including parking. Although it is rarely discussed, effective transportation is vital to Erie’s growth and development.
The audience was able to submit questions (written on cards).
This was one of the first opportunities to watch the candidates interact together and hear their vision for Erie.
